Subaltern ecologies in southern Italy

Abstract Italy is a country marked by serious inequalities between its northern and southern regions in terms of welfare, economic production level public services. Southern has also suffered cases environmental devastation. A body literature with postcolonial approach interprets these as the outcome colonial relations power that have made south historic victim racist representations authoritarian means government. Another line investigation dedicated to study socio-environmental conflicts which emerged situations degradation. The objective this article contribute build bridges two lines research, identifying most relevant points connection divergence, purpose showing possible paths common research for political ecology Italy.
